Patio del Conejo is an open-air café tucked at the end of a passageway on Calle Encino in downtown Playas de Rosarito, steps from Blvd. Benito Juárez. What sets it apart is at floor level: rabbits roaming freely between the tables. According to El Imparcial (July 19, 2025), the owner, whom the paper calls «Don Conejo», has 26 rabbits but keeps only four or five at the café, because the space can’t hold more without risk to the animals or the guests.

The patio is a small rabbit museum: a tree wrapped in strings of colored lights, clocks on the walls as a nod to Alice in Wonderland, and classic paintings redone with long ears, from Van Gogh’s The Starry Night to the Mona Lisa, as described by N+ (July 2023) and SanDiegoRed (July 2024). There are board games (Jenga, UNO) for a long stay, and a January 2026 review mentions rock music in the background.

The menu covers espresso drinks (cortado, latte, hot chocolate), lemonades and a sweet counter: crêpes, waffles with fruit, Nutella and ice cream, and carrot bread, which is the most-repeated item in reviews along with the berry lemonade. It is not a specialty-coffee shop, as the TJ Coffee Quest blog noted after its March 2021 visit; you come for the experience, the desserts and the rabbits. Google Maps estimates MXN $100–200 per person.

A heads-up if you are coming from the US with a free morning: this location opens only from 3 PM to 9:40 PM and is closed on Mondays. For morning coffee, the same business runs a second spot about two blocks away, the Contenedor at Calle Eucalipto 35, which opens at 7:30 AM. Meeting the rabbits comes with rules: staff guide the approach and you don’t pick them up like cats. Dogs are not allowed, according to Google Maps.

What people say

★★★★★
«We met someone who deeply loves bunnies and explained very clearly how the interaction with them would work, always putting their wellbeing first. All the staff were very kind and attentive. The coffee was delicious, and so were the little desserts. They also have games to have a nice time while you enjoy the place. The bunnies are gorgeous, very fluffy and very well cared for. If you plan to visit, go ready to spend time with them respectfully. They are not objects to handle as you please, but living beings that deserve care and consideration. 💕🐰»

«Recommended 10 out of 10 👌🏻 the coffee is very good, and the carrot bread, needless to say, I loved it. I recommend the hot chocolate and above all going to play a good game of Jenga as a family. I loved the place; for photo lovers there are lots of beautiful spots, and the staff are very kind.»

«I went because a friend from work recommended it. It’s easy to get to and the service is very good, the prices are very affordable, and I really liked the berry lemonade and the carrot bread. I loved seeing the rabbits hopping all over the place. It’s a place to relax and forget about stress, the decor is great and the rock music is very relaxing. I’ll definitely come back.»

«It's a uniquely ornamented spot, I reckon. Everything about it is so... Peaceful, maybe it's the rabbits, maybe it's the trees... Maybe it's everything. Christmas lights, paintings of rabbits (Rabbit Ball Z, Bunny Lisa, you name it). I got me a cortadito with extra Expresso shot and marzipan syrup, along with a waffle with banana and strawberries, Nutella on top and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We played uno and we had a lot of fun. I like how they explained how to respect the rabbits and teach you how to be kind to them.»

«Omg I love bunnies, so this is my place. It was just awesome. We had the Gancito crepas, and it was delicious and so it was the coffee. Love the music, the art, the ambit, it's just my kind of place. The owner was super cool, also giving us good information about the bunnies.»
