Where to stay

From the historic Rosarito Beach Hotel to clifftop resorts and budget options just steps from the sea.

Where should you stay? Depends on what you are coming for. Downtown packs the city beach, the pier, the bars and everything walkable: that is where the historic Rosarito Beach Hotel, the Festival Plaza and budget picks like the Del Mar Inn live. Heading south, the free road (km 28-44) strings clifftop resorts and villas —Las Rocas next to K-38, Calafia, La Paloma— and ends at Puerto Nuevo, the lobster village.

On prices, the honest version: nights start around $35-50 USD at simple or aging properties, the oceanfront mid-range runs $60-155, and full villas and houses (Quinta Pacifica, Las Gaviotas) go from $110 to $400 and up. Each hotel page lists its band, verified as of Jul-2026 — but they all move with the season: spring break (March-April), summer and any long weekend push rates up and sell out the good ones. Nearly everyone takes dollars; several require a cash deposit — details on each hotel page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Rosarito?

If you want everything walkable (beach, pier, bars, restaurants), stay downtown. For quiet, views and clifftop resorts, take the southern corridor along the free road (km 28-44), home to Las Rocas, Calafia and La Paloma. And if the trip revolves around lobster, Puerto Nuevo has boutique hotels and villas in the village itself.

How much does a hotel night cost in Rosarito?

As of Jul-2026: simple or aging properties run about $35-100 USD; the oceanfront mid-range, $60-155; resorts and villas, $100-250; and the full houses at Las Gaviotas, $200-850 a night depending on the house. Every hotel page lists its verified band — and they all change with the season.

Which oceanfront hotel is good without costing a fortune?

Castillos del Mar (about $60-100 USD) sits literally on the beach 5 minutes from downtown. The Del Mar Inn is not beachfront, but it is a 5-minute walk from the sand with rates of $50-110.

Do hotels take dollars and credit cards?

Dollars, practically everywhere. Credit cards, most mid-size and large hotels — but several charge the damage deposit in cash and some small ones are cash-only. The exact policy for each hotel is on its page, under practical details.

Which one works for a big group?

The houses at Las Gaviotas (up to 8-12 people, oceanfront), the Quinta Pacifica villas near Puerto Nuevo, or the La Paloma condos. For groups, booking weeks ahead makes a real difference in price.

When is high season?

Spring break (March-April), Easter week, summer and any long weekend. Rates climb and the good spots sell out; Sunday through Thursday outside those dates is when you find the best prices.
