Café Capuchino’s, which the sign out front simply calls "Capuchinos," is one of downtown Rosarito’s veteran coffee shops: a spot with a yellow sign on Blvd. Benito Juárez, about 400 meters (a quarter mile) north of Café de La Fonda and the Rosarito Beach Hotel. It holds 4.4 stars from 408 reviews on Google Maps (Oct 22, 2026). The awning sums up the offer: espresso, crepes and cakes.

It has been on the boulevard for close to three decades. In March 2020, a customer wrote on Google that she had met Jorge, "the owner of 25 years," and that the women who bake for him had been with him just as long; a promotional image from the café on Google Maps carries a "31st anniversary" seal. We found no local press coverage of its history, so we do not give an exact opening year.

The baking is homemade and it is what people remember: the lemon pound cake, the chocolate chip or cranberry–white chocolate cookies, the pineapple Danish, strawberry tarts and the individual chocolate-and-strawberry cakes the café shows in its photos. To drink, regulars come back for the café mocha and the latte, and at Christmastime they order the peppermint latte or peppermint white mocha, served in a big cup. We could not find a published menu with prices: ask at the counter.

Inside it is cozy and a little old-fashioned, with yellow walls covered in framed pictures, photos and keepsakes, a pastry case by the door and wrought-iron tables. There are three areas: the front patio on the boulevard, tables by the big street-facing window, and a more private room at the back. It opens daily at 8 AM, allows dogs according to Google Maps, and has customer-only parking out front.

What people say

★★★★★
«This is much more than just a coffee shop...it’s Special! Not only was our mocha wonderful, but the freshly made homemade(as is all their goodies) lemon pound cake was extraordinary!! The”icing on the cake” was meeting Jorge the owner of 25 years. And, hearing that the ladies that bake for him have been with him as long! Yes...”Special” is not an exaggeration. We’ll be back...lots!»

«I ordered a cappuccino and a pineapple Danish. Both were very good in flavor, presentation and price. The music and atmosphere are very cozy, ideal for coming to chat with friends.»

«Adorable little cafe, clean, good service, I love the interior, so cute. I always get the lattes and cafe Americano. Patties are awesome as well. Never lets me down.»

★★★★★
«The coffee is delicious. I ordered a hot peppermint white mocha and they served it in a super big cup at a good temperature. I ordered a chocolate chip cookie and it was very hard, it seemed like it was from the day before. What I liked least was the staff: the cashier who took my order seemed rushed, not friendly at all and zero empathy. I hope they improve the service, because the coffee really is delicious.»

«I found Capuchinos to be a place with potential: the coffee is a little bland, but you can add another espresso shot to improve it, which I’ll do on my second visit to see if it gets better. Otherwise I liked the place. It has several seating options: outside on the patio, inside with a view of the street, and a more private area at the back. My favorite spot was inside looking out at the street, since it’s really bright. Something funny: to use the restroom you have to walk through the kitchen :-)»

«The matcha has no flavor, they put a ton of ice in it, and for the price you can buy a much better one elsewhere.»

Good to know

  • Go for the baking. The homemade baking gets the most praise: the lemon pound cake, the cookies and the Danishes. Go early if you want them fresh; one customer in 2025 got a hard cookie.
  • Like it strong? Order a double. A customer in 2026 found the coffee a bit mild and suggests asking for an extra espresso shot. The mocha is what regulars order most.
  • Pick your table. The patio faces the boulevard, the window tables are the brightest, and there is a quieter area at the back for conversation.
  • Bringing your dog? Use the patio. Google Maps says dogs are allowed; the front patio is the easiest choice if you have your pet with you.
  • Customer parking. There are customer-only spaces out front, with a tow-away sign for non-customers: don’t leave your car there while you go elsewhere.
