Café en el Muelle is the café the Rosarito Beach Hotel runs on its pier, by Blvd. Benito Juárez 31 in the heart of downtown Rosarito. It is a wooden kiosk with a tile roof and a pergola strung with lights, with tables right on the pier boards and the Pacific below. Its cups call it "Café en el Muelle del Hotel Rosarito," and the hotel's brochure lists it as the pier coffee shop. It holds 4.2 stars from 353 reviews on Google Maps (Oct 22, 2026).

It was born with the pier's reopening: in June 2022, after a closure for repairs, the hotel reopened the walkway to the public and debuted the café, according to SanDiegoRed (June 25, 2022) and Ecos de Rosarito (July 1, 2022). The pier belongs to the hotel, according to Baja Times (August 2024), and storm waves broke it apart; in July 2026 the same paper reported privately funded work to reinforce it, due to wrap up at the end of August, and an expansion of the café with more covered and outdoor seating.

Apart from its opening days, getting onto the pier costs money, but the ticket is redeemed at the café. In 2022 it was 40 pesos or a minimum purchase; in 2026, several reviews say it is 100 pesos per person credited toward whatever you order, and hotel guests get in free. Outside food and drinks are not allowed on the pier (hotel rules). On weekends and holidays expect long lines at the entrance and at the counter.

The menu is beach-café fare: café de olla, lattes, matcha, frappés and cake, plus churros and crepes; Ecos de Rosarito reported in 2022 that they also serve beer, cantaritos and margaritas, and Google Maps confirms beer, wine and cocktails. It is open 7:30 AM to 10 PM every day, so it works for an early coffee watching the surfers as well as for sunset, which is when it fills up.

What people say

★★★★★
«I loved the concept of this café; the location on the pier is very good, and the way it is laid out is spot on. Very good products, and good flavor in its coffee and other drinks; the food they offer is quite pleasant. I really enjoyed my visit and highly recommend it.»

«The best of the best in service and flavor! The service is excellent; this time we were served by Alberto, and the mixed drinks go perfectly with the view of the sea and the green areas. Simply spectacular!»

★★★★★
«The atmosphere is nice as the coffee. The customer service is welcoming even though they don't speak any English. They don't allow any food or drink from outside. Enjoyed my coffee with the incredible view of sea.»
— Iniyazh · Google, 2024-01
★★★★★
«Don't go to this place on weekends or festivities, very slow service and organization. We did a waiting lane for about an hour with our tickets, only to find out that we have to order churros and crepes at the cashier... with our 100 pesos tickets you buy (pay in advance) at the entrance and the rest we paid with debit. (Waiting of 2 hours) 🤦‍♂️ Beverages another 45 minutes waiting outside at the dock.»

Good to know

  • The entry fee is redeemable. According to 2026 reviews, getting onto the pier costs 100 pesos per person, but you get a ticket worth that amount at the café. Rosarito Beach Hotel guests get in free.
  • Skip weekend rush hour. On weekends and holidays, some reviews report up to two hours between the line and the wait. Weekdays or early morning (it opens at 7:30 AM) are much calmer.
  • Ask which stretch is open. Storms damaged the pier and part of it was closed in 2025–2026; Baja Times reported reinforcement work and a café expansion in July 2026. Ask at the entrance how far you can walk.
  • Where to park. The hotel lot validates your ticket with a purchase for a limited time; after that it charges 35 pesos per hour (hotel rules). You can also walk up from the beach.
  • Leave outside food behind. Hotel rules ban outside food, drinks and coolers on the pier, in the gardens and at the pools.
