You can see it from the free road, high on a hill with its arms open toward the sea: the Christ of the Sacred Heart stands 23 meters (about 75 feet) tall and was unveiled in 2006 above the Villa San Pedro neighborhood in the El Morro area, at Km 37.5, about 10 km (6 mi) south of downtown Rosarito. It was commissioned by local resident Antonio Pequeño Guerrero and designed by Tijuana sculptor Gregorio Ramírez; before that, the summit only had a small cross.

What you really come for is the view: from the base you see the coast to the north — the highway, the hotels and the ocean — and reviewers call it a good sunset spot. You can drive right up to the base; from the free road, cross under the bridge to the El Morro side (by K-38) and take the road up the hill. Reviews agree the way up is confusing if you do not know the area: use the Directions button, which points to the exact spot.

It is free and there are no facilities at the top: no shops or food, so bring water and pack out your trash. Parts of the hill have unprotected slopes; hold kids by the hand. It pairs well with a morning surf session at K-38 or lunch in Puerto Nuevo, further south.
